Calhoun Little Theatre and the Harris Arts Center are please to present the the play Blithe Spirit. This smash-hit comedy of the London and Broadway stages offers up Charles Condomine, a re-married novelist haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira, who has been summoned from the Great Beyond by Madame Arcati, a visiting medium. As the worldly and unworldly personalities clash, Charles’ current wife, Ruth, is accidentally killed. When she “passes over,” she joins Elvira, and the two “blithe spirits” haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity. The play is set in mid-1940s England. Everyone on stage is smart, quick thinking, articulate, and convinced they are completely right about everything.
