Blithe Spirit Auditions

Calhoun Little Theatre and Harris Arts Center will be having open auditions for roles for the classic Sir Noël Coward comedy, BLITHE SPIRIT on SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2022 from 11am Blithe Spirit, by Noel Coward, will be directed by Jeff Adair. All roles are open and volunteer based. Harris Arts Center encourages diversity in casting and the directing team is strongly seeking artists of all races, cultural backgrounds, abilities, body types, and gender identities to audition for all roles.  Callbacks will be held (if necessary) at the director’s discretion.

Audition Location: Ratner Theater at Harris Arts Center, 212 South Wall Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.

Performance Schedule: Blithe Spirit opens October 27, 2022, and continues through October 30, 2022. Performances are Thurs-Sat at 7PM and Sunday, at 3:00 PM. Ratner Theater features an intimate 160 seat theatre located at Harris Arts Center, 212 South Wall Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.

About the Play
This smash-hit comedy of the London and Broadway stages offers up Charles Condomine, a re-married novelist haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira, who has been summoned from the Great Beyond by Madame Arcati, a visiting medium.

As the worldly and unworldly personalities clash, Charles’ current wife, Ruth, is accidentally killed. When she “passes over,” she joins Elvira, and the two “blithe spirits” haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity. The play is set in mid-1940s England.  Everyone on stage is smart, quick thinking, articulate, and convinced they are completely right about everything.

EDITH – a maid, always in a hurry, age 18+
RUTH – Charles’ current wife. (30s-40s)
CHARLES – An English novelist (30s-40s).
DR. BRADMAN – doctor and friend of the Condomines (30s-50s)
MRS. BRADMAN – wife of Dr. Bradman & friend of the Condomines (30s-50s)
MADAME ARCATI – a spiritual medium & author. (40s-60s)
ELVIRA – Charles’ late wife (20s-40s)
